Luxury fashion house Balenciaga have launched a campaign promoting their new range of distressed sneakers and with quite the price tag, causing an internet stir.
The images of the severed and stressed sneakers were launched on Monday April 10 and the pictures are taken by popular photographer Leopold Duchemin. The limited edition sneakers are dubbed ‘Paris Sneakers’ are made with fully destroyed cotton and rubber materials and feature ripping on the entire fabric.

In a press release, the company says the new sneakers shabby-looking aesthetic of sneakers aims at suggesting their lifelong span and that they are meant to be worn forever. The brand’s logo and graffiti are printed at the edge of the toe and the sole respectively. They are only available for preorder and are retailing for $1,850.
The sneakers will be available on the brand’s website. So far, these shoes have been available in European markets. The US and Middle East stores will get the collection on 16 May while Japan is expected to have it on 23 May.
