The sudden passing of Kaizer Obed, a beloved influencer on X, has sent shockwaves through those who knew him, serving as a poignant reminder of the impact he made during his life.
At just 25 years old, Obed, also known as Grand Mullah, breathed his last on Saturday, February 3, while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi hospital.
The news of his unexpected demise prompted an outpouring of grief from Kenyans across diverse backgrounds, with many expressing fond memories of the University of Nairobi graduate, often lauded as “brilliant.”
Digital strategist Pauline Njoroge, taken aback by Obed’s untimely death, remembered him as a “brilliant young man.” Former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Agnes Kagure also joined the mourning, recognizing Grand Mullah as a “self-motivated brand and PR strategist” who had managed to establish himself as a recognized brand despite his youth.
As a young professional in the field of Public Relations and an accomplished influencer, Obed engaged with prominent figures in Kenya’s political and corporate realms. His visibility traces back to his University of Nairobi days, where he actively participated in student representation politics and various other activities.
Between 2018 and 2022, Obed earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government, along with studies in International Relations. His graduation photo with UoN Vice Chancellor Prof Stephen Kiama adorned his X profile for a significant period, underscoring the importance he attached to the day he obtained his degree.
Armed with knowledge and competencies, Grand Mullah collaborated with politicians, assisting them in crafting strategies and marketing their brands. His LinkedIn profile highlighted his representation of organizations in “high-pressure situations” and his role in designing communication strategies for them.
