A night guard in Kisumu town found himself caught in the crossfire during a confrontation between police officers and suspected criminals.
According to police reports, the incident unfolded on Tuesday morning near a building within Kisumu. Officers were engaged in a tense encounter with a group of suspected thugs when an unintended discharge occurred from one officer’s pistol.
Tragically, the stray bullet struck the ground and ricocheted, inadvertently hitting a nearby night guard on his left thigh. Swift action followed as the injured guard was promptly rushed to Inuka Hospital for medical attention. Thankfully, he was treated and subsequently discharged in fair condition.
Amidst the chaos, authorities managed to apprehend one suspect, while others managed to evade capture. At the scene, police recovered a bolt cutter and a crowbar believed to have been discarded by the fleeing suspects.
