A 78-year-old bar owner has hanged himself after killing his employee at Matunda shopping center in Kakuzi, Kiambu County.
According to area assistant chief Mary Gachau, the man was on Tuesday found in the store while the 56-year-old lady was found in her room with deep panga cuts.
The two bodies were taken to General Kago mortuary in Thika by police from Ithanga police station.
Gachau added that there was no suicide note left at the either scenes.
In another incident, police in Shisasari are detaining a 35-year-old man suspected to have stabbed and killed his wife in Lurambi, Kakamega County.
Brian Ikhokhovo is alleged to have attacked and stabbed his wife only identified as Lydia, before surrendering to the police.
According to neighbours, the couple had been living separately for several months owing to endless disagreements at home.
“They have been fighting a lot to the point the wife left after her husband allegedly threatened to kill her,” said Shelpher Khakabo, a neighbour.
“There was a lot of noise coming from their house. The deceased tried to save her life by running to their neighbour’s house, but she was overwhelmed and fell in front of the door,” she added.
Police said that the woman’s body had deep stab wounds in the neck, chest and stomach.
Sherere Assistant Chief Fanice Atsienza who confirmed the incident urged couples to resolve their differences peacefully, saying there was no need of killing your partner.
The body of the deceased was taken to Kakamega mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Meanwhile, the suspect was being detained at Shisasari police post waiting his day in court.
