Police officers on Thursday evening stormed Rixxos club in Kitengela after its owner was caught on video threatening a female employee and bragging that he was known to the president.
However, the officers could not arrest the owner as he was away.
The storm came soon after the National Police Service urged a female employee of the bar based in Kitengela where the bar owner was caught on camera threatening her to report the incident.
In a statement on Thursday, NPS said that it has started investigating the incident and now it wants the lady in the video to file an official complaint at the nearest police station.
“In accordance with the National Police Service mandate to serve and protect all citizens, we have commenced our investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, we are urging the lady in the video to file a formal complaint at any police station to enable the police to take the most appropriate legal action into the matter,” the statement read in part.
The police warned that the law would be applied equally irrespective of one’s political or social connection.
“We wish to remind the public that the law will be applied equally irrespective of anybody’s social network or status,” they added.
The statement by the police follows a public outcry after the distasteful viral clip went viral of the man believed to be the only identified as Jaymo was recorded threatening and insulting the female employee who was demanding her payment for work done.
In the video, the man is seen and heard threatening the woman whose voice is heard in the background.
The unidentified man can be seen showing his phone to the woman saying he had connections with powerful people in the government and that the woman would do nothing against him.
“If I make one move, I can tie you to a case that will lead you to imprisonment. I am not afraid of you. There is nowhere you can take me in this country. I am in contact with the president,” he says in the video.
The woman asks ‘so I am here for my salary and you want to hit me?”
He the replies, “I am not paying you”.
