The Kenya National Highways Authority (Kenha) has announced a 32-day traffic disruption on a section of Mombasa Road.
In a notice issued on Friday September 13, the road authority said the disruption would be caused by the planned construction of a footbridge foundation near Syokimau railway station.
Kenha also said that part of the road would be realigned during the 32 days.
Kenyans using Mombasa Road will experience traffic disruptions along the Nairobi-bound lanes for a month from Friday, September 20 to Tuesday, October 22.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (Kenha) wishes to inform the public that a section of Mombasa Road (A8) near Syokimau Railway Station will experience traffic disruption along the Nairobi-bound lanes from Friday, 20 September 2024 to Tuesday, 22 October 2024,” read part of the statement.
Kenha Director General Kung’u Ndung’u has at the same time advised road users to use the alternatives that will be proposed by the authority and cooperate with police and traffic officers on site.
“Kenha advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” the notice added.
During the one-month traffic disruption, the authority will be constructing a mid-span footbridge foundation at the median between the Nairobi-bound lanes and the adjacent Nairobi Expressway fence.
“This is to allow for realignment of the road and construction of a mid-span footbridge foundation at the median between the Nairobi bound lanes and the adjacent Nairobi Expressway fence,” the statement added.
