Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu on Monday, July 31, 2023, released the placement results for students who sat for their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination in 2022.
Machogu said the Commission for University Education and the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority approved 768,624 capacities for student placement in 69 universities, 210 TVET institutions and 3 Secondary Teacher Training Colleges in the 2023/2024 placement cycle.
“During this Placement Cycle, KUCCPS published the costs of all programmes in Universities, Colleges, National Polytechnics and other TVET institutions. This was to guide students in making choices based on the financial implications, programme of study, and institution they wish to join,” Machogu said.
“I am, therefore, delighted to announce that KUCCPS has completed processing applications of the 2022 KCSE cohort and other applicants for placement to university and TVET programmes, which was strictly based on merit and choice,” he added.
Machugu noted that the 2023 placement results were only for those who applied for places in Universities, National Polytechnics and other TVET institutions, as well as Secondary Teacher Training
Colleges this year.
He said other placement processes in respect of the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and 32 Primary Teacher Training Colleges are still ongoing.
“I encourage all eligible students to take advantage of these opportunities to apply for the programmes before the deadline,” the Education CS said.
“In the long run, our target is to work together with other line Ministries to centralise the placement of students in all colleges in the country through KUCCPS. This will help promote efficiency and equity in access to educational and training opportunities,” he added.
PLACEMENT RESULTS
The Education CS additionally announced that the placement results for all the applicants will now be posted on the KUCCPS Student’s Portal.
He also stated that the results can also be accessed by sending the applicant’s KCSE index number through SMS to 20842.
“Following the successful completion of the placement process, I direct Vice-Chancellors and Principals of the various institutions to inform their prospective students, parents and guardians of the reporting dates and other joining instructions, without delay,” Machogu said.
