Nicole Kidman has opened up about the challenges she faced while shooting sex scenes for her upcoming film Babygirl, directed by Halina Reijn.
The drama centers on a powerful CEO whose affair with a younger intern threatens her career and family life.
Kidman stars alongside Antonio Banderas as her husband and Harris Dickinson as the intern who disrupts her life.
In an interview with The Sun, Kidman shared that the intensity of the scenes with Banderas and Dickinson led to moments of discomfort. She described a blend of “sharing, trust, and then frustration,” saying at times she felt overwhelmed.
“There were times when we were shooting where I was like, ‘I don’t want to orgasm any more. Don’t come near me. I hate doing this. I don’t care if I am never touched again in my life! I’m over it.’” She likened the experience to a burnout, revealing that the sexual tension felt “so present all the time.”
Kidman explained that she was initially drawn to Babygirl because it allowed her to explore themes she had not encountered in her acting career before. “I’ve always been on a quest as an actor,” she said. “I’m always going, where have I not been? And what can I explore as a human being? And this was an area I’d never been.”
The Oscar-winning actress has already received critical acclaim for her role in the film, having been awarded Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival following its premiere.
