Former Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu has made startling allegations, claiming that President William Ruto is behind the recent tribulations faced by his Deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.
In a recent interview, Waititu asserted that Ruto is orchestrating attacks against Gachagua through some leaders within the party, aiming to sow discord in Mt Kenya.
According to Waititu, Ruto’s motive is to prevent any leader from the region from gaining full support from the populous voting bloc if they decide to contest the presidency in 2027. He emphasized that the region had learned from past experiences and would not support an outsider like Ruto.
Waititu alleged that the leaders being used by Ruto are merely seeking to please him, with promises of positions and rewards. He claimed that Ruto had initially promised the UDA running mate position to himself and other leaders like Kiraitu Murungi and Francis Kimemia before changing his mind and settling on Gachagua.
Moreover, Waititu argued that Gachagua and other leaders from the region who held positions in the Kenya Kwanza government lacked the power to make significant decisions or enact meaningful policy changes. He warned these leaders that they could face a similar fate once the situation changes.
