Federal authorities arrested rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs late Monday in Manhattan after a federal grand jury indicted the music mogul, who has faced a string of sexual assault allegations in recent months—all of which he has denied.
Charges against Combs have not been made public and Damian Williams, U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, told various news outlets that the arrest was based on a “sealed indictment filed by the SDNY.”
Williams added his office expects to unseal the indictment Tuesday morning and “will have more to say at that time.
”In a statement shared with several news outlets, Combs’ lawyer expressed disappointment with the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s decision to pursue what they claimed was an “unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs” and described him as a “music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist.
”The statement added that Combs has been “nothing but cooperative with this investigation” and “voluntarily relocated to New York last week” anticipating these charges.
