Shared rides startup company Swvl has announced the return to full scale operations after Covid-19 related disruptions scaled down its business last year.
The company says it will resume regular commuter services around Nairobi and scale its up-country business.
Further the company has announced the launch of new innovation including car-pooling services.
“During the pandemic period, we took tine to analyse the patterns and needs of commuters. We identified the areas of change and have used the information to advise our new innovations and the decision to fully restart our regular rides service,” said Swvl Kenya General Manager Dip Patel.
Swvl had reduced the number of routes covered by its regular rides service at the onset of Covid-19 pandemic owing to a low number of regular commuters at the time.
The start-ups services are set to return alongside up-country passenger trips from Nairobi to Nakuru, Nyeri, Eldoret, Kisumu, Kisii and Mombasa.
The company allows users to book seats in shuttles operating on fixed routes and timings from their mobile phones. Swvl currently operates in Egypt, Kenya and Pakistan.
