The Speaker of the Taita Taveta County Assembly Wisdom Kazungu Mwamburi, on Friday announced the sudden passing of Taita Taveta Member of County Assembly (MCA) Constance Shughula Mwandiro.
In the death notice dated Thursday, Kazungu said the MCA passed away on Thursday afternoon at a Mombasa hospital.
Constance Shughula was a second-term MCA, having served in the 3rd County Assembly of Taita Taveta as a nominated MCA for the Wiper party until her unfortunate demise.
Initially, she held the position of nominated MCA in the 2nd Assembly.
Shughula will be remembered as a vocal legislator who was particularly proactive in advocating for the rights of the people of Taita Taveta, especially women, whom she represented in the Assembly.
“Her significant contributions to the House’s activities, particularly in matters of legislation and oversight, have made a positive impact on Taita Taveta County,” the Speaker said.
Shughula served as the Chairperson of the Health and Sanitation Services Committee and was a member of other committees in the Third Assembly.
During the Second Assembly, she held the roles of Chairperson of the Tourism Committee, Vice-Chairperson of the Health and Sanitation Services Committee, and member of other House Committees.
