First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto recently made some intriguing statements regarding agriculture and prayer during a thanksgiving service at the KICC.
She claimed that Ugandans no longer use fertiliser when planting crops because the country is naturally fertile and receives abundant rainfall throughout the year. Mama Rachel attributed this blessing to a religious revival that occurred in Uganda in the 1930s, suggesting that divine intervention resulted in fertile land and ample rainfall.
“In Kenya we see our President talk about fertilisers for our farmers. In Uganda, they don’t use fertilisers. Their land is very fertile and there is enough rain. I came to discover one thing; it is the East African Revival that swept Uganda and some parts of East Africa,” Mama Rachel said.
During her visit to Uganda in 2022, Mama Rachel observed the lush greenery of the country compared to the dry conditions in Kenya, prompting her to pray for rain.
She emphasized the importance of prayer and gratitude to God, encouraging attendees to adopt a similar mindset. Additionally, Mama Rachel expressed a hope that Kenya would one day have its own Thanksgiving holiday, similar to the tradition in the United States.
