Tragedy struck a family in Ruai, Nairobi, as they mourn the loss of their one-year-old son who drowned in a basin of water within their home.
According to reports, the child’s mother informed authorities that she had left the toddler playing inside the house on Sunday night, March 10. Unfortunately, there was a basin filled with water in the vicinity.
Upon her return from a brief absence, the mother discovered the lifeless body of her child submerged in the water. Despite her frantic efforts to seek assistance, it was too late to save him.
In a desperate attempt to save her child, the mother rushed him to Precious Life Medical Centre, where medical personnel, unfortunately, pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Law enforcement officials visited the scene and facilitated the transfer of the child’s body to the mortuary as part of the ongoing investigation into the tragic incident.
Witnesses recounted the devastation experienced by the mother in the wake of the heartbreaking loss.
Instances of such accidents are unfortunately not uncommon in households, prompting officials to urge parents and guardians to exercise caution and ensure that water sources are inaccessible to young children to prevent such heartbreaking occurrences.
