A suspected thug was shot and killed in a robbery incident in Korogocho slums, Nairobi.
The suspect with two others had earlier attacked and robbed a 20-year-old man of a mobile phone and Sh5,000.They also stabbed him before they escaped.
The victim raised the alarm, alerting police who were on patrol, prompting a chase in the Monday night incident.
Police said they managed to shoot dead one suspect while two others escaped on foot.
They also recovered a homemade pistol and a knife from the slain suspect.
The man who had been stabbed was rushed to hospital where he was admitted in stable condition.
The body of the suspect was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.
Nairobi police commander Adamson Bungei said they have enhanced operations in the city to tame cases of insecurity.
This includes increasing police patrols and deploying more officers ahead of the festive season.
“Nothing is worth your life and therefore it is important for cooperation where one thinks he or she cannot successfully fight the attackers,” he said.
