A North Carolina man will spend the next 46 months in a federal prison after he was found guilty of selling videos of himself and his girlfriend performing unnatural acts with dogs.
According to Dailymail, Timothy Lewis Blackmon will have three years of supervised release.
Blackmon was sentenced after pleading guilty to distributing an ‘animal crush’ video.
An additional count of possessing child pornography was dropped as part of the plea deal.
The court heard that the man advertised home videos of himself and his girlfriend Tracy Lynn Abbott, engaging in unnatural acts with dogs.
Abbot’s case was that she was forced to perform the unnatural act with a pit bull after cheating on Blackmon.
She pleaded guilty in August 2022 to two counts of crimes against nature and was handed a suspended sentence of three to 13 months in jail.
She was also placed on 18 months of supervised probation.
Blackmon was arrested in March 2022 after the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that someone was selling videos of himself participating in the act with dogs.
The tip said the person was using a phone message app.
An investigation was launched and evidence was recovered to obtain a search warrant for Blackmon.
The Sheriff’s Office said the search bore fruits and the authorities seized two dogs which were taken to the Forsyth Humane Society.
The dogs were – a pit bull mix named Buster and an American Pit Bull Terrier named Lady.
Following his arrest, Blackmon faced a total of 19 counts of felony crime against nature.
He was also charged with possessing child pornography.
The Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office however dismissed all those charges after Blackmon was indicted by a federal grand jury on two charges.
These included one count of possession of child pornography and a second count alleging that Blackmon ‘knowingly sold, marketed, advertised, exchanged, and distributed’ a video depicting a man engaging in an unnatural act with a dog.
A press release from the Office of the US Attorney for the Middle District of North Carolina said Blackmom is to pay $3,000 (Sh450,000) ‘to victims of the charges listed in the indictment’ in addition to prison time.
Further, as part of his probation terms, Blackmon must undergo substance abuse treatment.
He is not allowed to own pets or to care for anyone else’s animals.
In Kenya, offenses of unnatural acts are punishable by up to seven years imprisonment.
Section 162 of the Penal Code criminalises unnatural offences describing them as having “carnal knowledge of any person against the order of nature, carnal knowledge of an animal or permitting a male person to have carnal knowledge of him or her against the order of nature”.
Under this section, one is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment for fourteen years.
Section 163 of the Penal Code states that ” Any person who attempts to commit any of the offences specified in section 162 is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment for seven years”.
