In a harrowing incident in Kinna village, Isiolo County, a local businessman fell victim to a brazen robbery attempt, resulting in severe injuries inflicted during a violent confrontation.
Reports from the police indicate that the victim was heading home after concluding his business affairs in Kurkuji village when a group of six unidentified assailants, two of whom brandished rifles while the others wielded crude weapons, descended upon him. Riding on two unregistered motorcycles, the gang ambushed the victim, forcibly seizing his motorcycle and unleashing a barrage of gunshots into the air and in his direction.
Amidst the chaos, the businessman sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg, just below the knee, before managing to flee the scene, narrowly escaping further harm. The assailants fled with his motorcycle, leaving the victim injured and traumatized.
Following the incident, the wounded businessman was promptly rushed to Kinna Hospital for initial medical treatment before being transferred to Maua Level Five Hospital for specialized care. As of now, authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the March 11 attack.
The surge in armed criminal activity in the region has been attributed to gangs operating from neighboring Meru and within Isiolo itself. Law enforcement agencies have intensified efforts to apprehend the suspects, having already begun profiling them in a bid to track them down.
As investigations continue, the community remains on edge, grappling with the unsettling escalation of violent crime plaguing their area. Authorities vow to pursue the perpetrators tirelessly until justice is served and the safety of the community is restored.
