Moi University has announced a temporary halt on all academic trips after a bus accident involving 65 students.
The mishap unfolded on Wednesday morning along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway at Kimende area, prompting Vice-Chancellor Isaac Kosgey to convey the decision through the university’s social media channels.
“At approximately 9:50 a.m. this morning, our University Bus KCK 583U, carrying 65 students from the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Department of Kiswahili, was involved in a non-fatal traffic accident at Kimende area on the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway during an academic trip,” stated the Vice-Chancellor in a statement.
“As a precautionary measure, all academic trips have been suspended until after the Easter Holidays,” the university disclosed.
Thankfully, the incident resulted in no casualties or fatalities, with all students confirmed safe. Arrangements have been made for alternative transportation to return the students to the main campus.
In the aftermath, Kosgey underscored the significance of road safety during the Easter Holidays, urging both drivers and road users to exercise utmost caution.
