Police are investigating an incident in which a student at a university in Nakuru county was found dead after a suspected suicide.
The grim discovery was made by security officials on Saturday evening, as Kimathi was found hanging from a tree in the university’s botanic garden.
Kimathi, a student at the university, was pursuing a course in agriculture business management.
At present, university officials have yet to issue a statement regarding the incident. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies have initiated a thorough investigation to ascertain the motive behind Kimathi’s death.
Various personal belongings belonging to Kimathi, including a black cap, a letter of offer from the university, his national identification card, a wristwatch, and a mobile phone, were recovered from the scene. However, no suicide note was found.
The deceased’s body has been transferred to the Egerton Mortuary, where it awaits further examination through a postmortem procedure.
