The residents of Soweto and Kibra South areas in Kibra sub-county have faced a dire situation as raging floods swept through their communities on Tuesday evening.
The sudden overflow of river Ngong’, exacerbated by heavy rainfall, caught many residents off guard in their homes.
As a result, hundreds of residents have been displaced, with their houses flooded by water , forcing them to seek refuge outside their homes. The flooding has not only disrupted their lives but has also caused a humanitarian crisis, as many of their household items have been swept away by the swift currents.
Confirming the incident, Kibra sub-county deputy commissioner Jacob Odidi has urged residents to remain vigilant in the face of such natural disasters. Meanwhile, the affected residents are calling for urgent assistance from relevant agencies to mitigate the impact of the floods and provide relief to those affected.
