Police in Athi River, Machakos County, are investigating the gruesome murder of a Ohangla dancer Sheila Odoyo, popularly known as Sheila Wegesha.
The lifeless body of the 38-year-old was found lying in a pool of blood with her throat having deep cuts on her matrimonial bed in Hill View Estate.
Signs of struggle in the bedroom could be seen, but neither her children nor her neighbours heard any commotion.
“Mimi ndio immediate neighbour lakini sikuskia kitu..saa saba ndio tuliskia nduru kutoka kwa watoto,” said Richard Chesebeh, a neighbour.
Police are pursuing her 45-year-old husband Jackson Bamboo, who is presently being treated as a person of interest in the gruesome murder.
The deceased’s 18-year-old daughter told the police that she learnt of the death of her mother at around 1 pm on Wednesday as she was going to serve her lunch.
The suspect, Bamboo, had silently left in the wee hours of Wednesday, at around 1am.
“Mambo yote ilianza kujulikana mchana ndiposa tukashikana tukawasilisha ripoti kwa polisi,” said Chesebeh.
The vehicle used by the suspect when he left his house, a Mitsubishi Outlander, was discovered abandoned around the Kencom area within the Nairobi CBD.
Police believe that the suspect may have switched vehicles before disappearing. His last signal was traced to Narok.
The motive of the murder remains unknown, with detectives probing the case following leads of a troubled marriage marred with suspected cases of infidelities.
In the wake of the murder, her fans took to social media to mourn the deceased who has been described as lively and a lover of Ohangla dance.
Both the victim and the suspect were proprietors of an entertainment joint in Nairobi’s Umoja area.
The body of the deceased was taken to Shalom Community Hospital morgue before it was transferred by family on Friday to Chiromo morgue awaiting autopsy.
