A prime suspect linked to a series of robberies in Laikipia County has been arrested in Nanyuki.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announced on Thursday that 46-year-old Renkel Lentaam was apprehended following an extensive investigation.
Lentaam, who has been in possession of an AK-47 rifle used in multiple robberies, was caught by investigative officers after being trailed for a considerable period. “The crime busters proceeded to Makurian location inside Mukogodo forest, where the suspect had hidden the illegal firearm and 53 rounds of live ammunition inside a modified tree trunk,” the DCI stated on X.
The seized weapon and ammunition were documented and sent to the National Forensic Laboratory for ballistic examination. A manhunt is currently underway for Lentaam’s suspected accomplices, who remain at large.
