Police in Naivasha have apprehended a 25-year-old suspect believed to be involved in the murder of a supermarket manager in the lakeside town.
The arrest, made within Naivasha town, followed revelations by investigators that the suspect had a prior relationship with the deceased.
Detectives recovered the murder weapon, electronic devices, and clothing belonging to the 38-year-old manager during the operation. The manager’s absence from work on May 22 prompted police intervention, leading to the discovery of his mutilated body in his residence.
Sources close to the investigation disclosed that the suspect had a romantic involvement with the deceased, which deteriorated, allegedly prompting the fatal attack. The suspect, who has confessed to the murder, cited betrayal as the motive behind the assault, which occurred in a rental house in Naivasha town.
“The suspect had access to the victim’s residence and used to visit regularly before their falling out, culminating in the attack two weeks ago,” stated the source.
Naivasha OCPD Stephen Kirui confirmed the suspect’s arrest, announcing that the individual is currently in custody and will face murder charges in court. Utilizing CCTV footage and phone records, investigators traced the suspect, who resided in close proximity to the victim.
“In the suspect’s residence, investigators recovered several stolen items, including a television set, a tablet, cooking gas, and bloodied clothing,” Kirui disclosed.
Further interrogation of the suspect led officers to the victim’s residence, where the murder weapon was discovered hidden. Kirui emphasized that initial investigations indicated a preexisting acquaintance between the suspect and the victim, facilitating the suspect’s access to the victim’s home.
