Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has announced that she will not seek re-election in the 2027 polls.
Speaking in Makadara Constituency, Passaris shared her satisfaction with having served two terms as Nairobi WR and expressed her intention to step down.
She declared her support for Cecilia Karanja, a health advocate and founder of Fertility Kenya, to succeed her. Karanja had previously shelved her ambitions in the 2022 polls to support Passaris, who was elected on an ODM party ticket.
Passaris made the announcement while distributing tents, chairs, shaving kits, and sports gear to local football teams in Makadara. She praised Karanja’s commitment and support, highlighting her role as the committee vice chair for the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) and representative for the Makadara subcounty. Karanja, who aims to promote family values and economic empowerment, expressed her enthusiasm for vying for the woman representative position in the 2027 elections.
