In a recent interview with Oga Obinna, DJ Fatxo addressed the investigation into Jeff Mwathi’s death, revealing that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had completed their inquiry and forwarded the findings to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
According to DJ Fatxo, the DPP determined there was no case to answer, as no charges were filed due to a lack of evidence supporting the public’s allegations.
When questioned about his whereabouts during the incident, DJ Fatxo disclosed that he was asleep in a separate apartment and intoxicated at the time. The investigation into Jeff Mwathi’s death remains ongoing, with conflicting narratives surrounding the case. Initially, it was reported that Mwathi had died by suicide, falling from a tenth-floor window. However, subsequent rumors suggested he may have been murdered and then pushed from the window.
DJ Fatxo previously shared his account of the tragic night during an interview with Massawe Japanni on Radio Jambo. He explained that he and Jeff had planned to collaborate the following day, which is why Jeff had come to stay at his Kasarani apartment. DJ Fatxo thought it would be more practical for Jeff to spend the night so they could start their work early the next morning.
DJ Fatxo recounted that he had met Jeff through a mutual friend, Faith Mutanu, who had provided Jeff’s contact information. He reached out to Jeff for a specific project he had in mind and mentioned that, although they were not very close, they had occasional interactions. DJ Fatxo expressed that he had no motive to harm Jeff.
Following their brief interaction about the project, DJ Fatxo and Jeff went out with friends for a night of partying and clubbing, which ended tragically with Jeff’s death later that evening.
