A suspect in connection with the gruesome murder of the late Willis Onyango Ayieko, the Human Resources Manager at Wells Fargo, has been arrested.
The suspect was flushed out of his hideout in Nairobi’s Dandora Phase IV on Monday night where he had rented a house.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), on Tuesday said that the suspect (who is being held at Muthaiga Police Station) was placed at the scene of the crime through forensic analysis as part of the forensic-led investigation being conducted by a joint team of DCI’s Homicide, CRIB and Operations detectives.
“The investigation is ongoing and the team is analysing vital clues to identify and arrest further accomplices,” the DCI said in a statement.
A post-mortem examination is expected to be carried out on Ayieko’s body on Tuesday at the Lee Funeral Home where the body was taken to establish how he died.
This will also form the basis of the case detectives are preparing.
Among those questioned so far are two Mpesa agents based in Siaya.
This comes after it emerged that Ayieko’s killers withdrew money from his mobile phone through mobile banking.
The agents are expected to help detectives identify the men who withdrew at least Sh100,000 from different locations in Siaya between October 19 and 20.
A team of detectives from Nairobi joined the local team on Thursday and said they were following up on good leads in his brutal murder.
Police are investigating murder and robbery with violence in connection with the incident.
