A middle-aged woman was on Thursday arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts and charged with conspiring to defraud her stepmother of a piece of land in Eastleigh, Nairobi, valued at Sh110 million.
Nadra Modhihiri Mohamed pleaded not guilty to three charges: conspiracy to defraud, forgery, and obtaining land registration by false pretences.
According to the prosecution, the offences were allegedly committed on or before November 5, 2011, at an undisclosed location within Kenya, with others not present in court.
The court was informed that Mohamed is accused of conspiring to defraud the late Modhihiri Mohamed Modhihiri of a property known as LR NO.36/VII/465, which measures approximately 0.2085 hectares in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
The land, valued at Sh110 million, was allegedly transferred through a forged indenture of conveyance, which was falsely registered under presentation number 447 on December 8, 2011, in Volume N44 Folio 14/4, File 13552. The prosecution claims Mohamed knew the registration details were fraudulent.
Senior Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe granted the accused a cash bail of Sh300,000. The case will be mentioned in court within 14 days.
