Former world junior 800m champion Alfred Kipketer has been handed a two-year ban by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for whereabouts failures- an anti-doping rule violation.
According to AIU, Kipketer was charged for whereabouts failures after registering four missed tests between November 2018 and September 2019.
The athlete has been under suspension from the World Athletics for close to a year with his ban backdated to November 2019. The 24 year old is thus barred from competing for the remaining 10 months with the ban set to elapse in November this year.
Kipketer won gold at the 2014 World Junior Championships in Oregon, USA having reigned supreme at the 2013 World Youth Games in Bahamas.
He was also among the Kenyan quartet that won a gold medal in 4x800m relay at the 2014 World Relays Championships in Nassau, Bahamas.
Kipketer becomes the first Kenyan athlete to be banned in 2021.
