Kenyan content creator and social media personality, Azziad Nasenya has been nominated as African Social Star 2021, in the upcoming America’s People’s Choice Awards.
The People’s Choice Awards will be held for the 47th time on December 7, 2021, at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
The show will be broadcast live simultaneously on NBC and E!
Azziad, an on-air personality, has a strong showing, as she is the only Kenyan and East African to be nominated.
The 21-year-old is competing against Boiumelo ‘Boity’ Thulo, Lasizwe Dambuza, Mihlali Ndamase, and Witney Ramabulana from South Africa, Falz and The Odditty from Nigeria, and Tyra Chikocho ‘Madamboss’ from Zimbabwe.
The TikTok queen, who was trending on Twitter in Kenya with over 2000 tweets by Thursday morning, took to Instagram to share the good news.
“Voting is on for the next three weeks. Make sure to put your email address after voting, to make sure your vote has been counted. Thank you for the support.”
Azziad’s excitement for the news was palpable on her Instagram stories following the announcement.
“We have been nominated. I am humbled and grateful. I thank God and all of you guys for supporting me throughout this whole journey,” she wrote on IG.
“The support is overwhelming. My people on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are doing the most. Thank You!”
