With a can of Guinness in his hand, Fireboy DML was all smiles over the weekend when he toured the Nairobi National Park courtesy of Guinness.
The Peru hitmaker, born Adedamola Adefolahan was in the country where he performed at the Ngong Racecourse, Waterfront Park on Saturday, April 9.
Fireboy is an Afrobeat rising star and is also part of the ongoing Guinness campaign dubbed “Black Shines Brightest” a Pan African campaign celebrating the iconic black liquid enjoyed all over the continent for over a century.

During the tour, the artist who has worked with international artists including Ed Sheeran and Madonna was all smiles as he got to experience the park which is backdropped by Nairobi’s skyline.
The Nairobi National Park is the closest park to any major city in the world. With great wildlife populations, the park is perfect for those looking for a taste of East African safari, without having to travel too far.
Fireboy ignited an internet craze with his number of hit songs and soon after created a connection with people who were craving during the Covid-19 pandemic days and it was the beginning of his rise to a bonafide star.
His impact is evident in his multiple hits including ‘Peru’, ‘Vibration’, ‘Scatter’, and ‘Friday Feeling’ among others.
Speaking of how Peru came to be, Fireboy says he was freestyling at the studio and was tipsy at the time.
“Peru was a freestyle. It was a 45-minute thing, I was tipsy, and I was vibing in the studio having fun. My Nigerian producer Shizzi, who has worked with Wizkid and Davido, wanted me to come to San Fransisco and listen to some beats he was working on. The song is really about a young man in a foreign land, enjoying himself, and just coming out of his shell and having fun and living life. My goal for the song was to lean into my carefree side, a sharp contrast with the pensive and reflective edge that underlies my other projects,” he said.
On the Peru remix, Ed Sheeran and I brought a fresh perspective to a song where Ed Sheeran takes over the second verse with lyrics sprinkled with upbeat pidgin and interlaced with words from Yoruba which forms the lyrics of the original song.”
Last year, the Queen of Pop, Madonna came calling. Together, they worked on the Sickick remix of her hit, Frozen.
“When I first met her, I expected to be starstruck, but she immediately put me at ease. She contacted me since she has been a fan since my debut album was released in 2019. We exchanged a few words. Then I went into the studio, where we discussed ideas over a WhatsApp chat before she eventually approved the verse. It felt really natural; nothing was forced, and the energy was just right,” Fireboy told Billboard.
Throughout 2021, Fireboy has been bagging an ever-growing list of accolades and has garnered over 250 million streams worldwide.
