President Uhuru Kenyatta has been spending time at a State Lodge after State House was put on lockdown.
People were prevented from accessing the building after four more people tested positive for Covid-19 in State House last week.
According to blogger Dennis Itumbi, the pandemic has disrupted activities in State House and most people have been relocated elsewhere to conduct their day to day activities.
Itumbi says not even Mutahi Ngunyi is allowed to access State House.
“The President on his part spent some time in one of the State House Lodges. @StateHouseKenya will tell you which one,” Itumbi wrote.
“The impact of Covid-19 on State House is disruptive and untold. Media Sources or Newsroom laziness, or maybe just a story not worth telling..but that’s why we have Social Media.”
“State House Kenya is on complete lockdown due to Covid-19 – no leaving and no entrance to everyone. Including the newbie Mutahi Ngunyi. All locked out. Only the over 200 people who live there are present. The rest make huko nje. To avoid bringing the virus to the House on the Hill,” Itumbi tweeted.
According to Itumbi, “staff have been relocated to different offices. State House Comptroller and Head of Public Service have been dispatched to Office of the President at Harambee House. That’s now their operation base.”
The restriction of movement into State House came after four new Covid-19 cases were discovered a week ago.
However, according to State House spokesperson Kanze Dena, the President and first family were not infected and are safe.
“State House would like to inform Kenyans that his excellency the President and the First Family are safe and free from Covid-19.”
“The infected officers were admitted at the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital in Kiambu County for treatment,” Kanze said.
