Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja on Monday held a meeting to discuss increased crime in the capital.
In the meeting held at Jogoo House, the two leaders together with other county officials are said to be talking about taming the trend.
Governor Sakaja and the newly sworn-in IG are expected to address the media about the way forward after their meeting.
City dwellers have in the past weeks complained over increased cases of muggings, snatching, stealing, robbery with violence and murder.
A crackdown by police early last week named street families, hawkers and some rogue Boda Boda riders as top suspects for the increased crimes.
As part of efforts to address the menace, which has now spread fear among city residents, Sakaja has banned hawkers and street families from occupying and conducting business on footbridges within the city.
