Four children in critical condition are receiving treatment in a Homa Bay hospital after allegedly being poisoned and stabbed by their father before he committed suicide inside their rental home in Nyagoro Trading Center, East Kochia Location.
The minors, aged between 3 and 9, were seriously hurt on Tuesday night over alleged domestic disputes between their father, Ronnie Ochieng’ Nyore, and his wife.
Ronnie allegedly poisoned the kids with a pesticide before stabbing them in the stomach with a kitchen knife, according to East Kochia Location chief Kennedy Odero.
Chief Odero said the suspect locked himself in his rental home in Nyagoro Center with injured children before consuming the pesticide to end his life.
When the wife got home, she found her husband locked inside, and when she pushed the door open, the kids were lying in a pool of blood while the husband was already dead.
The children were rushed to Janeiro Private hospital by bodaboda riders and locals who heard her distress call.
They were later transferred in critical condition to the Homa Bay county referral hospital.
The body of the deceased has been transported to the county referral mortuary in anticipation of the postmortem.
Odero said investigations are ongoing to determine the primary cause of the incident.
