Safaricom has appointed three top-exexutive to spearhead organizational changes to accelerate new growth areas as well as boost customer experience.
The new appointees, who include Esther Masese Waititu, Boniface Mungania and Zizwe Awuor Vundla, we’re picked from the telco as well as outside.
In a statement, the firm appointed Waititu as the new Chief Financial Services Officer effective February 21, 2023.
She will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight to Safaricom’s Financial Services.
Esther boost 15 years in the financial service sector, having occupied several major roles at KCB Bank Group besides serving at Stanbic Bank Zambia as Client Coverage Country Head, among other positions.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of East Africa, Baraton and a Master of Business Administration from University of Liverpool, UK.
Likewise, Mungania has been appointed as the Director of Public Sector Digital Transformation from April 1, 2023.
Some of his tasks will be to identify digital opportunities within the public sector where the government can digitize through technology, recommend right solutions to the National and County Government, among others.
Mungania has been with Safaricom since 2007, where he started as a customer care representative before rising through the ranks.
He has hold various leadership roles in financial services, including senior manager, M-PESA Business Development as well as mobile financial services consultant.
Starting today, Vundla will serve as the Director of Brand and Marketing.
She will provide strategic leadership, from a market and product perspective to the overall Safaricom brand.
She has 18 years’ experience in brand and narketing from big firms such as Diageo South Africa where she was the head of marketing and innovation.
Vundla holds a Bachelor of Business Degree from the University of Cape town.
