TikTok star Baba Mona, real name May Kevin Oselu, his daughter Mona and two of his sisters are said to have tragically died in a car accident on Friday evening in Kericho County.
The accident occurred on the Londiani-Muhoroni highway, near the Tunnel trading centre in Marenda sub-location.
Eyewitnesses said that a black saloon car, carrying the family members, veered off the road and hit guard rails. The impact left the car a mangled wreck.
“A child was thrown off the vehicle while three adult passengers sustained multiple injuries,” a witness said.
Reports indicated that the child died while being rushed to the nearby Fort Terran Hospital.
A police officer at the scene said the other three victims succumbed to their injuries there.
“The four are said to be family members who were travelling to the Kandege area in Koru, Muhoroni at the border of Kericho and Kisumu counties. I can confirm because l knew the TikToker and his daughter I am yet to know who the other two passengers were,” said the police officer.

Baba Mona was a popular content creator on TikTok who had amassed a significant following due to the pieces of advice he gave to his audience. He mostly created content in Luo, which resonated well with young people.
Several supporters took to social media to pay tribute to Baba Mona and his family members. Many remembered his exceptional content creation skills, and others expressed their condolences to the family.
Robert Alai, Kileleshwa MCA, wrote on Twitter, “RIP Baba Mona, Mona, and the other family members. Such a talented soul. Otek! Mtu asijaribu ku-scroll.”
The police took the bodies to St Vincent’s hospital mortuary, and an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
