As Christians across the country celebrate Easter, Eliud Wekesa popularly known as Yesu Wa Tongaren now says he will not die for the sins of humankind for the second time.
On Friday the self-proclaimed Jesus of Tongaren, come out to address an alleged plan to crucify him.
This came as Kenyans asked whether he will be crucified during the Easter period, just like Jesus did.
Good Friday is marked by the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary. It is observed during Holy Week as part of the Paschal Triduum.
He now says he will not die for the sins of humankind for the second time.
“Jesus was crucified only once, and since I have come for the second time, it is written that I come to save those who await me, not to die for their sins a second time,” Wekesa claimed.
During Easter celebrations, Christians commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
After the threats of crucifixion, Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has assured Kenyans that Wekesa, is safe and sound rubbishing claims of his crucifixion.
Wekesa also warned those planning evil against him saying the will be destroyed.
“Those are the dark hearts from Babylon. My father is letting them come together to attack me because he wants to destroy them,” said Wekesa.
Through Twitter, Savula shared a photo of the self-proclaimed Messiah under what he termed as tight security saying;
“Yesu wa Tongaren is safe. Security is tight. Malicious people wanted to crucify him this Easter,” he tweeted.
On Good Friday, Yesu wa Tongaren conducted a mass for congregants as they fast for three days.
Recently an image of Mr Wekesa, The leader of New Jerusalem sect, captured while enjoying a meal with his wife spurred social media chatter with some netizens jokingly likening it to the last Supper.
In a previous interview with Nation, he noted that his mission is to complete Jesus’s work on Earth.
“I came back to complete the work that I started more than 2000 years ago when I left Earth,” he said.
