Nigerian Arya Starr has arrived in Nairobi ahead of the Shoke Shoke festival set to take place at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on March 4.
Starr is set to take the stage alongside Kenya’s Khaligraph Jones, Mejja, Boutrous, The OnlyRosa and more.
The singer, who shot to fame with the globally-popular song “Bad Samaritan”, arrived on Wednesday evening at the JKIA Airport accompanied by her crew, band members, manager and security personnel.
Shoke Shoke, an environmentally focused part of the Mwanaume ni Effort (MNE) brand, is an annual Green Festival targeted at the youth, built on the 3 pillars of Education, Environment and Entertainment.
The festival aims to positively influence sustainable behaviour among our audiences to drive the change we want to see.
Shoke, a derivative of the Kiswahili word “Kesho” is the first of its kind in Nairobi which runs on the theme “Flipping The Narrative For Tomorrow” and aims to drive behavioural change among its target audience to ensure that our environment remains sustainable.
“We are passionate about both entertainment and the environment. We also believe that the best way to reach Gen Z’s and millennials with the message of sustainability is through music and entertainment,” said Baraza Mwabe, Shoke Shoke Festival Director.
