Auctioneers on Wednesday seized 10 vehicles belonging to Mediheal Hospital Nakuru, co-owned by former Kesses MP Swarup Mishra, to recover a debt of Sh40 million.
John Muthee of Tango Auctioneers noted that another court order for Sh13 million is pending. The hospital’s Nakuru branch closed last year due to financial difficulties, leaving 17 doctors and other staff unpaid.
The Mediheal Group of Hospitals, valued at Sh30 billion, has been struggling with financial issues since last year when some medical insurance firms withdrew partnerships, causing a significant revenue drop. Mishra described the situation as an “unfortunate witch hunt” on Facebook.
In Eldoret, another auction directed by Jomuki Auctioneers is scheduled for July 2, 2024, outside the Eldoret Post Office. This auction includes four plots of land owned by Mediheal Group Limited, founded by Mishra and his wife, Dr. Palavi Mishra. The plots are located in Blossom Area, Ngeria Centre, and Elgon View-Greenvale area, with varying sizes.
Mishra, who served as Kesses MP in 2017, lost his seat in the 2022 elections to Julius Rutto, a UDA candidate.
