Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition has called off Thursday’s anti-government protests.
This is after Kenya Kwanza agreed to recuse Eldas MP Adan Keynan from their bipartisan talks committee.
“We in Azimio la Umoja One Kenya announce, on a without prejudice basis, that we are prepared to go back to the bipartisan talks with our opposite side in Kenya Kwanza and are prepared to stand down the demonstrations scheduled for tomorrow Thursday provided that Kenya Kwanza recuses Hon Adan Keynan from the bipartisan committee,” read a statement from Kalonzo Musyoka.
The Eldas Member of Parliament will now be replaced by Saku MP Ali Rasso Dido.
Last week, the Opposition Party suspended its participation in the bipartisan talks with Kenya Kwanza.
The two sides suspended the talks to resolve the issue of membership to the Bipartisan Committee over the inclusion of Eldas MP Adan Keynan by Kenya Kwanza and Pokot South MP David Pkosing by Azimio la Umoja.
The two factions had earlier met and noted the concerns about its composition, formalization and the nature of talks whether parliamentary or extra parliamentary and resolved to engage the appointing authorities’ the statement states.
