Azimio leader Raila Odinga has vowed to press on anti-government protests saying he is not afraid to be killed.
While addressing the press on Thursday, Raila said they are ready to face the law if found guilty of committing any crime.
Raila added that President William Ruto should know he is not above the law and he too will die day someday.
“We have not committed any crime but they are threatening to arrest us. We have said openly that we shall do everything by following the law, if they find that we have committed a crime, we are ready to be arrested and face the law,” he said.
“No one is above the law, Ruto should also know that he is not above the law. If Ruto wants to kill us he should just say because he will also die someday. No one fears death.”
Raila said that Kenyans are angry with Ruto’s government for violating their rights.
The Azimio leader has maintained that demonstrations will still go on whether the government issues a permit or not.
He announced that the coalition will hold demonstrations on Wednesday, July 19.
He said the demos will be held whether the President likes it or not.
“We will have countrywide protests next week on Wednesday whether the government likes it or not,” Raila said.
The ODM boss has on several occasions decried an attempt by the government to assassinate him.
After the July 7 Saba Saba demonstrations, the Azimio leader said that his car was shot at to try and kill him.
“In Nairobi, there was an attempt to assassinate me,” he said.
On Wednesday, Raila was forced to cut shot planned Kamukunji rally claiming he received intelligence that the police planned to use live bullets during the rally.
He said some of their staff were deployed to set up the stage at the Kamukunji grounds and were attacked by the police.
He said some of their workers were also arrested on the grounds.
“Yesterday night, we received intelligence of a very heinous plan by Kenyan Kwanza to ferry goons who would attack peaceful attendees of our rally in Kamukunji. These goons had express order to shoot directly to the crowd while enjoying police protection,” Raila said.
This is even as some Kenya Kwanza leaders called for the arrest of the opposition boss.
