The untimely demise of a 33-year-old banker from Kasarani has left his family perplexed and seeking answers.
The last known sighting of the deceased was captured by a CCTV camera on December 15, 2023. The video captures the man making a difficult ascent up the stairs of a Kasarani apartment building following a wild night of revelry with friends one of whom is a resident of the building.
According to a witness, a scuffle ensued between the deceased and his host before the unfortunate incident that saw the banker tumble down from the third floor.
The woman had been caught on CCTV helping the man up the stairs and into her home before the tragic incident occurred. An eyewitness, who had heard indistinct voices, quickly notified the caretaker about the disturbance. Although they managed to catch a glimpse of the man’s legs, their desperate attempt to catch him were ultimately futile.
Another witness asserts that they had come across the lady living upstairs telling the deceased to leave her residence before he met the tragic plunge. However, it is uncertain as to when the conversation took place or if the caretaker was authorized to enter the house to prevent such a drastic action.
The incident transpired in the basement as the banker forcibly broke through a ceiling and navigated past metal bars, ultimately landing on the ground.
Worried residents quickly gathered at the scene to assess his condition and asserted that he was enduring difficulty in breathing while blood slowly trickled from his wounds. Accounts suggest that he was promptly moved to the closest medical facility but unfortunately declared deceased upon arrival. The family of the deceased and the neighbour are urging the police to expedite their investigation into the case.
However, they also convey disappointment that detectives have not yet visited the crime scene to gather evidence. Additionally, the police are facing criticism for neglecting to interview the eyewitness, the woman involved, and the caretaker.
