The late Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Francis Ogolla, will be laid to rest at his family home in Mor, Alego Usonga, Siaya County on Sunday, April 21, 2024.
The family disclosed that General Ogolla had specified in his Will that he wished to be interred within 72 hours of his passing.
Prior to the burial, a memorial service will be held at his local church in Nduru. The family is collaborating with a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) committee to ensure that General Ogolla receives a dignified farewell.
“Additionally, a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 26th, 2024, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Langata, where he found solace in his biweekly runs,” said the family in a statement.
General Ogolla tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash on Thursday in the Sindar area of Elgeyo Marakwet County, along with nine other military personnel. Before his untimely demise, he had been expected to attend celebrations commemorating his father, Joel Okech’s upcoming 100th birthday in Siaya County on Saturday, April 20. The festivities were planned to extend into Sunday, engaging the local community.
