Joseph Mwadulo, the 17-year-old Chavakali Boys High School student who tragically lost his life in a road accident, will be laid to rest today, Friday, April 12.
The accident, which occurred at Mamboleo Junction in Kisumu County on April 1, 2024, claimed Joseph’s life, leaving his family and community in mourning.
His mother, singer Mary Wangari Gioche, popularly known as Kareh B, announced on Thursday evening that Joseph will be buried in Embu County.
The burial proceedings are set to commence at Kenyatta University Mortuary, where mourners will gather at approximately 7 a.m. before proceeding to Embu.
“We will lay him to rest tomorrow (April 12). We will bury him in Kimangaru, in Embu. We will meet at Kenyatta University Mortuary at 6.30 am so that we can give people time to arrive. We will depart from KU at around 7.30 am,” Kareh B shared during a live fundraising session with Karangu wa Muraya.
Kareh B also revealed that many students from Chavakali High School, where Joseph was a student, will attend the burial in Embu. The students plan to pay their respects by attending in uniform, honoring Joseph as a fallen comrade.
“The students of the school (Chavakali) will come. They are saying they will come in uniform because Joe was a soldier, he was a hero, and he died in uniform,” she explained.
The artist emphasized the intention to conclude the burial ceremony early to accommodate the presence of minors, as there will be many young attendees at the event.
During the fundraising session organized by musician Karangu Muraya on Thursday evening, Kareh B expressed gratitude for the contributions received, acknowledging that while part of the burial preparations had been accomplished, there were still pending expenses to address.
She disclosed that the budget for the burial exceeded Sh2 million.
Joseph Mwadulo’s untimely passing occurred when the bus transporting him and other students from Chavakali High School was involved in an accident. The community continues to mourn the loss of a promising young life.
