The Milimani Anti-Corruption Court has summoned six suspects implicated in the graft case involving former Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria.
The summoned individuals include Patrick Kagumo Mukuria, Jane Wanjiru Mbuthia, David Maina Kiama, David Maina Njeri, and Peter Muturi Karanja. Additionally, two companies, Top Image Media Consultants and Value View Limited, have been called to appear in court on April 29, 2024, according to the Office of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DPP).
These suspects, along with the former Murang’a County governor, his wife, and brother-in-law, are facing allegations including abuse of office, unlawful acquisition of public property, conflict of interest, and money laundering, as stated by the ODPP.
The prosecution team, consisting of Mercy Gateru, Kennedy Panyako, and Linda Otieno, is handling the case.
Last week, Wa Iria’s wife and brother were unconditionally released following a High Court order suspending their prosecution over allegations of embezzling Ksh351 million.
