The death toll from the Mathare River floods in Nairobi County has risen to 13 after three more were recovered on Thursday morning.
The bodies recovered from the river included two men and a female teenager.
According to Starehe police boss Fred Abuga, a joint search operation led by the Nairobi County Government and the Kenya Red Cross is still underway.
On Wednesday, ten bodies were retrieved from the river following heavy rains experienced in Nairobi on Tuesday evening.
Various parts of Nairobi, including Mukuru, Mathare, Huruma, Ruaraka, Baba Dogo, Bosnia, Umoja 3, Choka, Njiru, Ruai, Utawala, Githurai, Kahawa, Eastern Bypass, Kinoo, Kijabe, Limuru, Ruiru, Graceland, Joska, Kaswito, Kicheko, Mangili, Kenyatta Road, Juja, Kitengela, and Magadi, witnessed heavy rainfall on Tuesday night, leading to flash floods.
