Disney has treated fans to a sneak peek of the upcoming Moana sequel, revealing a captivating transformation for the beloved character.
In the teaser released on Wednesday, Moana is depicted as older yet exuding confidence, wearing a knowing smile as she grips an oar on a raft. Set for release later this year, the sequel serves as a continuation of the original Moana film that captivated audiences in 2016.
The storyline follows Moana, a skilled navigator, as she embarks on a new quest, seeking the assistance of the demigod Maui in returning a precious item to an ocean goddess. Auliʻi Cravalho voiced the character of Moana in the original film, while Dwayne Johnson, Rachel House, and Jemaine Clement lent their voices to other pivotal characters.
The first Moana film, enriched by enchanting songs composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, garnered widespread acclaim from critics and viewers alike. It even secured an Oscar nomination, with Miranda earning another nomination for his exceptional songwriting skills.
Initially, plans were underway for a television show inspired by Moana; however, in a February announcement, Disney revealed a change in direction, opting to develop a sequel movie instead.
Fans can anticipate the sequel’s release on November 27, with Auliʻi Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson reprising their roles, promising another exciting adventure in the world of Moana.
