MultiChoice Kenya Limited, a pay television service provider, has raised its DStv prices by up to six percent, marking the third adjustment in a year.
The price increase is bound to affect the entertainment budgets of households and businesses.
Although MultiChoice Kenya did not provide specific reasons for the latest price review, it previously cited increasing business costs and the depreciation of the shilling against the dollar as contributing factors.
The new rates, effective April 1, have already been communicated to customers.
The current prices were implemented on August 1 last year, following a previous increase on April 1, 2023.
The DStv Premium package will see the largest increase, rising to Sh10,500 from Sh9,900. Meanwhile, the Compact Plus package will now cost Sh6,500, up from Sh6,200.
Customers on the Family package will see their subscription rise to Sh2,000 from April 1, 2024, compared to the previous Sh1,850.
DStv Lite subscribers will pay Sh700, up from Sh600, while the Compact package will increase to Sh3,700 from Sh3,500.
The Access package remains unaffected by the latest price adjustment, with customers continuing to pay Sh1,300 per month.
