Former Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria has presented himself at the EACC police station for statement recording and fingerprinting in connection with the ongoing graft probe.
Accompanied by his co-accused, Wa Iria is expected to be arraigned and charged later.
Earlier, Justice Nixon Sifuna directed Wa Iria, Jane Waigwe Kani, and Solomon Kimani to cooperate with the EACC and DPP and present themselves for fingerprinting and statement recording.
“In the intervening period between now and tomorrow, they shall not be arrested. They shall have their advocates escort them to the EACC,” said the Judge.
The high court in Murang’a had issued temporary orders preventing their charging in court. However, those orders were vacated by Murang’a Presiding Judge James Wakiaga, who then transferred the matter to the Nairobi High Court Anti-corruption Division for further directions.
