In Kirinyaga, a 70-year-old man is currently in police custody, accused of murdering his 32-year-old son in a dispute over land.
The suspect, Francis Njagi, was arrested by Police Commander Johnson Wachira from Gichugu, following an incident in Gwama village, Karumandi Ward.
The conflict erupted when Njagi engaged in a heated argument with his son, James Mwobe, over a piece of land. According to Irene Njagi, the suspect’s wife, their son had plans to plant macadamia on the disputed land.
The disagreement escalated, resulting in the suspect fatally stabbing his son. James Mwobe was declared dead upon arrival at Kianyaga sub-county hospital.
“A neighbor rushed him to the hospital following a distress call from the deceased’s mother,” mentioned the police.
The deceased’s body has been taken to Kerugoya Mortuary, and ongoing investigations will determine the course of action against the suspect.
