Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has announced the suspension of three match officials, one player, and a team manager due to their alleged involvement in match-fixing last month.
The three referees under investigation by the federation’s Integrity Department for misconduct are Jacqueline Barongo, Meshack Omondi, and Stephen Adeya.
Kevin Olang’o, goalkeeper for Veteran FC Talanta, and Abdulkarim Amele, team manager for Kibra United, have also been banned from all football-related activities until their names are cleared.
FKF has cautioned football stakeholders against engaging with these individuals until their cases are heard and determined by the Disciplinary Committee.
In a statement, FKF said, “Consequently, FKF has directed all its members and the general public not to have any form of sporting contact with the suspended individuals. No further details will be provided at this stage as the matter is pending hearing and determination by the FKF Disciplinary Committee.”
The alleged offense took place during the FKF Premier League match between Talanta and Nairobi City Stars two weeks ago at Kenyatta Stadium, where City Stars emerged victorious with a 3-0 win.
